Hundreds turned out to share the difference that love and support makes for families managing dementia

02 November 2025 – PROVINCETOWN, MA – Hundreds of people – inspired by love – filled the streets to raise awareness and funds for the Alzheimer’s Family Support Center of Cape Cod, which brings free services and support to families managing dementia.
“Its the one time when everyone comes together, the caregivers, the client, the people who have memory problems and we all get to feel the love we all feel,” said Marian Roth, President, Board of Directors, Alzheimer’s Family Support Center of Cape Cod.
You don’t feel alone,” said Mary Ann DeMello who was walking in support of the organization. “You make friends, I’ve made friends for life.”
What is the walk?
The annual walk helps support the year-round efforts of the support center and its work cape-wide offering no-cost services to families managing Alzheimer’, dementia, and realted diseases. It brings together caregivers, people living with a range of memory diagnoses, family members, and supporters in a joy and love filled stroll to raise awareness, remember those who have passed, and simply enjoy community.
What is Alzheimer’s Family Support Center of Cape Cod?
The Brewster-headquaretered organization, with easy-to-access outreach space in the Cape Cod Mall, was founded out of need by people who were struggling to navigate the process of a dementia diagnosis within their families.
Today it delivers a research-based family and community-center social model at no cost – with a goal of helping people manage the complex, multi-challenged, and often long-term path of a memory disease. These encompass respite programs, planning, education, and support groups, all focused on building a community.
How does community help?
“One of the most touching parts about being a caregiver was being there for my mom and bringing her out in the world and really being proud to be with her,” said Katie Romagnoli, a social worker with the organization.
“I think this is an event where we’re so happy to see our people genuinely and we look at them and we look past cognitive loss and we just see a human being who’s worthwhile and valuable. “
