26 July 2026 – HYANNIS, MA – Local businesses and curious crowds came together to celebrate goods, food, and all things Cape Cod as Live Love Local kicked off its 14th season spotlighting local products and businesses.

What is Live Love Local?

The Love Local Fest filled Aselton Park in Hyannis with 100 local business vendors, offering everything from handcrafted jewelry to artisan wooden framed sunglasses to treats for the lucky pup.

The fest represented the first of three annual events all focused on highlighting the power of buy local.  The other 2026 dates are the last Sunday in September and the first Saturday in December.

Why does buy local matter?

Jen Villa, Executive Director /Co-founder of Love Live Local, a nonprofit dedicated to raising the profile of local businesses and their role within the local ecosystem said that the power of local business reaches wide and deep.

“We’re done some extensive research on just Cape Cod Information and one of the most powerful stats we’ve come up with is if every Cape Codder shifted just 10 percent of their normal spending – not additional spending but just a shift of 10 percent  – it would generate $114 M in our economy every year, “ she said.

What is the multiplier effect?

Local spending comes with what economists call a multiplier effect. In other words, a dollar you spend has an impact far beyond that single purchase.

For example, when you spend locally, your single dollar might become part of someone else’s income, which they in turn spend locally. Or, a portion of it might go into local tax revenue, supporting your local town.

That dollar might also drive the business to buy services or hire more people locally, again multiplying into many other dollars of impact within the Cape.

“Love local, chose local,” said Villa. “Invest in your friends and neighbors; think local first.”
